About Us

Our History

Founded in 2017, the BC Youth Council was established by Fallon O'Neill with her best friend when she was 14 years old. She created the BC Youth Council to establish a network of youth aged 14-24 from across British Columbia that provides a platform for change across the province. This change is achieved through working closely with politicians and community organizations, sharing voices with other youth, and making differences both provincially and locally. In July 2020, we were incorporated and officially became a nonprofit.

Our Impact

BCYC Chapters

"Being in the BCYC Club helped me connect with my peers, It’s a place where I felt included and cared for. As the Event Director, it made me come out of my shell and see where I can grow. It gave me opportunities to practice my communication skills and public speaking. Everyone has a role to bring into the club and we all create something great together. That is the beauty of teamwork and I’m glad that I get to be a part of it." -Events Director for the BCYC A.R MacNeill Secondary Chapter

Student Reps Meetings

To discuss the importance of student trustees and the issue of student representation in British Columbia, the Student Reps Campaign at BCYC has met with government officials such as Patti Bacchus, Jordan Tinney, Nick Milum, Leah Bae, Senator Martin, Spencer Chandra-Herbet, Rob Fleming, Jennifer Reddy, and more!

Environmental Cleanups

The environmental team at BC Youth Council is dedicated to reducing single-use plastics in the community. In addition to creating petitions for by-laws, they have done this by organizing numerous park cleanups alongside a massive shoreline cleanup.
